Time & Sequence

～てから	After doing	食べてから、行きます	After eating, I’ll go
～ている	Ongoing action	勉強しています	I am studying
～たことがある	Past experience	行ったことがあります	I have been there
～ながら	While doing	音楽を聴きながら、勉強します	I study while listening to music
～ところ	Point in action	食べるところです	About to eat
		食べているところです	In middle of eating
		食べたところです	Just finished eating

Connecting Patterns

～けど/が	But/However	難しいですけど、面白いです	Difficult but interesting
～から	Because (casual)	忙しいから、行きません	Won’t go because busy
～ので	Because (polite)	雨なので、傘を持ちます	Take umbrella because rain
～たら	If/When	晴れたら、行きます	If sunny, I’ll go
～と	When (natural result)	春になると、桜が咲きます	When spring comes, cherry blossoms bloom
～ば	If (general)	お金があれば、買います	If I have money, I’ll buy it
～なら	If (given that)	暇なら、行きませんか	If you’re free, shall we go?

Common Modifiers
